About Us

Our History

The Westside Singers have been performing in the Portland metropolitan area and beyond for almost 80 years. Originally begun in 1945, the all-male chorus was known as the Forest Grove Gleemen. When women joined the chorus in the 1960s, the group became the Forest Grove Gleemen and Girls. As time passed, the chorus grew in size, drawing singers throughout Washington and Oregon. The focus changed to singing jazz standards and show tunes, and the name changed one more time to the Westside Singers.

Over the years, we have been honored to sing the National Anthem at PGE Park and Memorial Coliseum. The Westside Singers also had the privilege of performing at the 1986 World's Fair in Vancouver, B.C. Our most memorable performances, however, have been while conducting a tour of Europe in the 1970’s where our singers held a command performance for Princess Grace of Monaco.

One constant throughout the long history of the Westside Singers is that our music will transport you to a different time and inevitably make you want to dance, sing along, or simply close your eyes and enjoy the music.
